How active is Guild Wars at the moment?
Hey Gurus', I haven't played GW in around a year now, actively.
I miss this game so damn much, played from 06 to 10 none-stop but quit due to how bad/inactive PvP got. Factions and EoTN are actually the only campaigns I completed, I had Proph and NF but never got round to completing them, since I got so damn hooked on PvP, I made my money that way and afforded Osbi armour/High end weapons - but I never did PvE all that much, haven't even completed the UW. What I'm saying is if I came back to play now, I want to delete all my characters/storage and start over fresh, to get a full PvE experience from Proph all the way to NF on one character...however...I HATE Heroes/Hench, I prefer playing with real people so I don't get bored to quick (heroes is what killed pve for me and made me bored of it...I like to have a laugh while I play with other people)...so if I came back would there be plenty of people to group with, or is everyone SCing dungeons still? Sorry if I went on...I'm pretty high right now... Also, being high, and listening to this, is pretty f*cking amazing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WenzlbYJ-lo |

Have you considered just buying a new character slot? Dump all your Xunlai contents onto your existing characters and impose a rule of not touching them? Your idea just seems a little extreme to me. Anyway, that aside, as for the "deadness" of the game, that depends. If you're referring to the PUG scene in the general storyline areas, yeah, it's a bit dead. You can still find people in the outposts, but they're usually there for HM title-progression. Mission outposts are usually packed on the Zaishen day looking for PUGs, but again, for HM. The only way to guarantee people is to join a newbie-friendly guild who are willing to do the basic missions with you. That's kind of the silver lining -- with so many people coming in to the game to see what it's all about in preparation for GW2, I think you now can actually find people who are doing this all for the first time and are filling out those newbie-friendly guilds. So, to answer your question: Yes and no. General PUGs are kind of dead, the veterans are title-grinding and speed-clearing. But with a little effort, you can find people to play with. |

I assume i have to read "actively" as pvp? When was the last time you did some pve?
If the answer is "also 1 year ago" then i think things have improved over the last 8-9 months(there are a lot of new players who play gw to try to prepare themselves for gw2). |

PUGs are going to be rare. If you must be social, get into a guild and rock on with them.
Don't delete your stuff. You need all the loot for Hall of Monuments points. There is a lot to buy. This gives you something to carry over to GW 2. |

Dead?
There are countless thousands of people playing at any point in time, however since heroes are so effective now, pugging is a thing of the past for all but new entrants or those who do Z-bounties and such with people for fun. Is it any wonder? Most of us can almost any HM content or dungeon easier, faster and without the moaning you get from know-it all whiners in pug groups these days. Join a guild with plenty of newer players and you will be fine. |

Most missions are dead but that's because most people that play have completed the game already and done everything so there is no need to be in the earlier mission outposts unless it's a farm or something.
I recently took a war through proph and felt like I was playing a single player game, like no one around, people I tried to group with were either afk or didn't give a shit. So early on it will be extremely boring unless you find someone to do proph with you. I wouldn't delete anything as your achievements count towards your HoM which gives you special items in GW2. I'm assuming you are high on weed and that definitely helps zone in and just not care. I do have an ele that just reached where you go to ascend in proph that I'd be willing to finish with you. Doesn't take too long to get there.. shoot me a pm on here if you're down I check this site daily. Last edited by ruk1a; Oct 17, 2011 at 02:25 AM // 02:25.. |

well,im returning after a few years absence and have started from scratch.since starting there are 5 mates of mine who have bought all the games and are doing likewise.not because of gw2,that doesnt enter into it as far as we're concerned.
we tried wow and gave up on that after about 5 hours as it was boring and full of very odd individuals! this game has no fees,is nice and challenging for new chaps such as we especially if you dont use wikis to tell you whats happening next. we're all still pre searing and, thus far its been a right laugh. seems people take all the achievements and the rest of it too seriously and have forgotten how to just have fun.we dont want to get through it too quickly, its too much of a giggle! cheers |

However, there are still lots of people around and sometimes some of us start/join a PUG for grins. It's too bad that there isn't some form of in-game voice chat. |

It really depends where you wanna go look tbh.
If you wanna PvP, no it's dead/dieing. PvE has had a recent boost and is still active in some places. The daily bounties add some activity, and the SC scene is still alive. The good thing about the SC community is that it doesn't die as easily as PvP, because it's a lot easier to get into 'high-end' PvE than it is to get into High-End PvP, and a lot of oldtimers are quitting, but a lot of new people that used to be casual players or 'newbies' want to get into it as well, and they form a constant influx to keep the whole thing alive. |
